The year you move abroad is the year you stop waiting for life to start. This is a solid place to do it: the German-speaking seat on a support team right on Málaga harbour, at a serious, established company that looks after the customers of European tech brands. You sit alongside colleagues who speak German, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish, so the office feels like a small Europe with better weather. The week is hybrid once you are settled in, and team activities and after-work events turn colleagues into friends. The team is growing, so there is real room to grow with it rather than sit in a queue. Around you is the fastest-rising city in the south of Spain, three hundred days of sun and a beach you can walk to after work.
What you really take home
Everyone who moves abroad comes back a different person.
We moved abroad for our first jobs too, and almost everyone we met along the way grew more in a year than they would have in ten at home. The salary is decent for where you live. The growth you cannot get anywhere else.
You meet the world
Colleagues and friends from a dozen countries, each of whom took a completely different road to the same table. You start to see how many ways there are to live a life.
You learn to figure it out
New paperwork, a new system, a language you do not speak yet. Every small thing you solve on your own builds a confidence that no job at home can give you.
Doors open afterwards
The people we know who did this went on to better jobs, their own companies and new countries, or came home with an edge every employer notices.
