The people who move abroad in their twenties are very often the ones doing something interesting in their thirties. This is a straightforward way to start. Join the German-speaking support team of an established brand and help customers with orders, products, returns and deliveries, in your own language. No experience needed: patience, a friendly manner and a willingness to learn matter more than a CV. Breakfast and lunch are provided every working day, you are on full Spanish health insurance, and Spanish lessons are free. Valencia does the rest: a beach a tram ride from the centre, a nine-kilometre park through the old riverbed, a famously good food scene, a winter that barely counts as one, and friends from all over the world before you have finished unpacking.
What you really take home
Everyone who moves abroad comes back a different person.
We moved abroad for our first jobs too, and almost everyone we met along the way grew more in a year than they would have in ten at home. The salary is decent for where you live. The growth you cannot get anywhere else.
You meet the world
Colleagues and friends from a dozen countries, each of whom took a completely different road to the same table. You start to see how many ways there are to live a life.
You learn to figure it out
New paperwork, a new system, a language you do not speak yet. Every small thing you solve on your own builds a confidence that no job at home can give you.
Doors open afterwards
The people we know who did this went on to better jobs, their own companies and new countries, or came home with an edge every employer notices.
